Design

We design meaningful and functional landscapes that enhance both our clients’ lives and the natural beauty of their outdoor spaces.

A cozy backyard patio with wooden furniture, a hammock, a fire pit, greenery, and decorative plants, enclosed by wooden fences.

Our design approach is to dive deep, allowing the essence of a place to arise from our understanding of each client’s needs and vision and the unique characteristics of the site.

We work with a broad range of project scopes and budgets. From custom site design to streamlined design packages or the transformation of a feature or two, our designers are here to help your garden dreams come true.

We design with you in mind, taking into account lifestyle, functionality, and the right materials and plants so your garden will stand the test of time.

Lifestyle

At Blossom, we partner with our clients to create beautiful and sustainable outdoor spaces that reflect who they are and how they live.

Do you love to garden, need a place to gather with friends and family, or wish for an outdoor space where your children can play and explore? Have you been longing for a place to retreat and enjoy quiet moments?  Is your aesthetic clean and modern or do you long to be surrounded by lush green, organic lines and bountiful blossoms? How much time and energy do you have to spend cultivating and maintaining your space?

Whatever your inclination, we will work with you to create a landscape honed to your interests and lifestyle, a place that will draw you outside and nourish your soul.

Form Follows Function

Thoughtful planning is the foundation of a well functioning landscape.

Understanding the site and planning for the essential pieces of a project are the first steps we take when developing a landscape design. We think about how to channel and harvest rainwater, where we will plant a shade tree or leave open space to harvest sunlight and nourish a garden.  Whether it is planning gracious circulation or shaping and locating the required square footage for a gathering space or quiet corner, we work diligently to make all of the pieces of your design fit together, ensuring your outdoor space flows and functions optimally.

Materiality and Craftsmanship

Integrity in design, craftsmanship and materiality is key to developing timeless, long-wearing spaces that reflect your desired aesthetic.

We believe there is a truth behind every story that can be told with simple materials put together in innovative ways. Partnering with our clients, we select materials and finishes that are true to their nature, durable and perform well over time. These are often humble materials installed elegantly.

We pay close attention to how the pieces of your project seamlessly fit together. From pavers in a neat modern pattern to reclaimed juniper timbers aligned just so, we know it is the thoughtful details that make a project sing.

Naturalistic Planting Design

Sheltering trees, fragrant blossoms, and textural grasses bring life to your landscape.

Our designers are plant lovers and will work with you to create a thoughtfully layered planting plan honed to your interests and site. It will change through the seasons, with trees maturing to provide structure and shade, your favorite blooms coming and going, and berries bringing delight to birds and children alike.

We work with native plants to invite and sustain pollinators, choose climate adapted plants to ensure your garden stays hearty and healthy, and focus on low maintenance plantings that will enrich your life by leaving more time to relax and play in your outdoor space.
